Bloomsburg, PA at a Glance
Situated on the north branch of the Susquehanna
River in east-central Pennsylvania,
Bloomsburg is home to one of Pennsylvania's largest fairs, the Bloomsburg
Fair, held in late September or early October. The Fair is an annual tradition
that dates back over 150 years and features live musical performances, harness
racing, midway rides and various competitions. Another popular event is Bloomsburg's
Renaissance
Jamboree, an annual arts and crafts fair held in April. The city's arts scene
is bolstered by a professional repertory company, the Bloomsburg
Theatre Ensemble, which provides a season of performances at the Alvina
Krause Theatre. A short drive south of Bloomsburg is Knoebels
Amusement Park, a family-oriented attraction in Elysburg
with an abundance of rides, entertainment events and other fun activities. Bloomsburg
is also convenient to all the attractions and amenities in Wilkes-Barre,
just 40 mi (64 km) northeast of the city.
